正直者だけど運がなく貧しい男は、観音様からのお告げの通りにわらしべを手に西へと進みます。困った人を助けているうちに、一本のわらしべがどんどん高価なものになり、男はとうとうお金持ちになりました。日本の有名な童話「わらしべ長者」です。
An honest but unlucky and poor man heads westward with one straw in his hand, as he was told by Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy. As he helps those in need, one straw becomes more and more expensive, and the man finally becomes rich. This is the famous Japanese fairy tale "Warashibe-choja".
